Connecting to Your Purpose

This week I'm helping my clients be intentional about connecting their every day tasks and to-dos to the purpose behind them.

I was just coaching a client who was struggling with procrastination and following through with her daily to-dos. She told me that she looked at her calendar and felt nothing but dread. During our session we decided to change two things.

First, we realized that everything on her list was very broad and vague. She had things like "research" and "organize" which felt overwhelming to her. There wasn't a clear first step or a way to know when she was done so she dreaded even thinking about it. To solve this, we broke each one down into specific action steps with deadlines giving her a clear roadmap. 🧭

Second, we discovered that she was viewing everything as a chore or an obligation. Even the things she wanted to do for fun, like go on vacation with her family over spring break. 🌴 So we renamed the things on her list to inspire more creativity and fun. For example:

Draft Team Meeting Agenda became Create Space for My Team to Grow and Connect

Book an Airbnb became Find the Setting for Our Vacation Memories

This helps you remember why you're choosing to do the things you do.

When you connect to the purpose behind the tasks it feels more meaningful. ✨ You're less likely to skip them or resent the time they take up because you see them as part of the bigger picture of your contributions to your work, family, community and the world.

Look at your calendar or to-do list and see what you can rename to remind you of the bigger purpose behind each of them. I'd love to hear about what changes you make.

As your coach, I can help you create personalized strategies like these based on your Human Design that will help you connect to your bigger purpose. During the six months we work together, you'll also get:

Schedule a consult to get started.

During the consult we'll talk about what you're looking for and what's missing. I'll lay out a process to help you get there. And then we'll decide if we want to move forward. Either way, you'll get info about your chart and some strategies you can implement right away.
