What It Means to Be Good
What does it mean to be a good mom, daughter, employee... fill in the blank?
And when do you find yourself feeling bad and guilty that you're not?
Mostly likely it's when you're setting boundaries and saying no to other people.
Such as when you want to prioritize your own health, well-being and time. Which means some of the things you've been doing "in service" of others needs to go.
And because you've been taught and conditioned that your value as a woman comes from serving others, you think it means you're not a good wife/boss/friend, etc.
This line of thinking is great for the patriarchy and bad for you. Because it keeps you overworked, underpaid, stressed and burned out.
You don't have to put yourself last in order to be a good anything.
Enough is enough.
Serving others out of guilt or obligation is actually what's preventing you from being a good ________________. Because those people are getting the tired, resentful version of you.
And so are you.
You deserve better.
