Letting Things Go

During this quick break between last week's Solar eclipse and next week's South Node eclipse, albeit with Mercury in retrograde, it's a good time to think about releasing what no longer fits.

This can be something as big as your identity or as small as a daily habit your want to eliminate.

The first step in letting go is loosening your grip a little bit.

To do this, start by deciding what you are not. For example:

I am not someone who says "it's no big deal" when it's something that is a big deal to me.

I am not the VP who cleans up the conference room after a meeting simply because I'm the only woman there.

I am not a mom who drops everything to help her teenager find a lost AirPod.

I am not the same person who made that choice five years ago.

Once you decide who you're not, you can make room for who you want to be.

What have you been holding on to because it feels like an obligation instead of a choice?

What role are you still playing because you think it's too late to change?

What version of you are you still hiding behind even though you outgrew it long ago?

Whatever it is, start to let go of it by telling yourself you are not that. Even if you don't know what's next. Step one is always letting go of what no longer fits.

As Earl said in Sweet Home Alabama (a movie I still adore), "You can't ride two horses with one ass, Sugar Bean."

You've got one ass. One life in this body. But infinite chances to start again.

What's one thing you can let go of today?
