The long Memorial Day weekend also marked the beginning of summer break for my daughters.
As part of that transition we went through each of their rooms including shelves, closets and drawers to clear out what they no longer wanted or needed. After donating a ton of stuff to Goodwill we hit up Target for some summer basics and to replace some things that we'd thrown out.
Later my 13 year old told me that she was motivated to clean and organize the rest of her room because it "felt so much better in here".
Which perfectly puts into words the energetic benefits of cleaning and clearing your spaces.
You are energetically impacted by everything around you. Both in terms of your physical capacity to do things and the emotions you take in from and transmit to others.
Clearing your spaces doesn't have to take lots of time, involve trips to Goodwill or buying new things. It can be a simple reset of any area or space.
Think about spaces where you spend time or areas of your life. Are there places or things you've been avoiding? Or an area where you feel tired or irritated as soon as you enter?
Those are indicators of energy blocks that need to be cleared.
A basic energy clearing can be done with sage or incense - open the doors to the room and sweep the energy clean with smoke.
But it's also really useful to do some physical cleaning to clear the energy of the room.
Here are a few examples of things that only take a few minutes but can have a big impact:
Organize the cords on your desk and secure them out of your sight, if possible.
Fold the blankets and straighten the throw pillows in the living room when no one is using them.
Consolidate your phone apps or desktop icons into folders.
Clear off a surface - the bathroom sink, a coffee table, a counter in your kitchen.
Just like with your spaces, small energetic shifts can have a big impact on the rest of your life as well.
